Children’s Connection, a program of Family Connection provides weekly support groups, family events, and more to children whose parent or close family member has been incarcerated. Last year, 170 students participated in the weekly groups. 33% of participants miss 5 or fewer days of school and 68% have 5 or fewer tardies. The average GPA of middle school participants is 3.1.
Family Services’ Counseling program provides a variety of services, including marriage and family, parent/child, alcohol/drugs, depression, anxiety, and stress. Last year 6,184 services were provided to 1,084 people.
Family Service’s Family Life Education provided prevention and education programs on variety of topics to 7,900 people last year.
The Heuermann Counseling Clinic through Family Services utilizes volunteer counselors to provide counseling services to clients who are low income and have no other means to pay for services. Last year 176 were assisted.
Lutheran Social Services’ Sioux Falls Area Counseling Center serves children, adults, families, and couples who are struggling with a wide array of mental health concerns. Last year 1,143 people were provided 4,445 hours of counseling. 84% of participants demonstrated some level of achievement towards their goals.
Lutheran Social Services’ Consumer Credit Counseling Service helps consumers find solutions to their financial concerns through financial counseling services and debt management programs. Last year the program provided 2,382 counseling sessions and 605 active debt management plans. 86 clients successfully completed debt management plan and 44.7% of participants increased their awareness of their monthly expenses or amount owed to creditors. $3,241,586 in debt was paid off by participants through debt management plans.
Sioux Falls Psychological Services’ Marriage and Family Therapy Clinic serves low-income, underinsured families. Last year 529 people attended 1,368 counseling sessions.
Southeastern Behavioral Healthcare’s Psychiatry program provided access to psychiatric services to 1,160 low-income individuals last year.
Southeastern Behavioral HealthCare’s Employment Connection program assisted 195 individuals suffering from mental illness in their career development last year. 27 job placements were made, generating $164,000 in income and saving the public $76,000.
